Meet the Zone’s Sports Advisory Board


Although the research at Zone Labs is headed by Dr. Sears, we make extensive use of our Sports Advisory Board to provide research on the latest breakthroughs in biotechnology from a diverse number of fields.

Rich Dalatri

Rich Dalatri

Rich Dalatri was the first full-time strength and conditioning coach in the NBA starting with New Jersey Nets in 1987. He has coached for 25 years in the NBA and with various national teams worldwide. These teams included the Italian National basketball team that, within one year, went from being a mid-level team to winning Silver medal in the 2004 Olympics. He has also taken the Ukrainian National team, once the worst team in the world, to the World Championships within four years. These rapid transitions occurred when Rich introduced the Zone Diet and high-dose fish oil into his training program.

Bill Foran

Bill Foran

Bill Foran has been the strength and conditioning coach of Miami Heat for the past 25 years. Prior to coming to the Miami Heat, Bill spent four years as the head strength and conditioning coach for the University of Miami during its national championship years in college football in 1987 and 1989. Prior to his tenure at University of Miami, he spent four years in a similar capacity at Washington State University. Bill is the former president and co-founder of the National Basketball Conditioning Coaches Association (NBCCA) and is a published author, including “Condition the NBA Way,” “NBA Power Conditioning” and “Complete Conditioning for Basketball.” Bill was named as the 2009 Co-NBA Strength Coach of the Year in its inaugural year.

Skip Kenney

Skip Kenney

Skip Kenny is one of the greatest swim coaches in the history of American swimming. He was the head swim coach at Stanford University for 33 years, and for the last 31 years of his tenure at Stanford his teams won every PAC-10 championship. During that same 31-year time period, his swim teams never finished lower than fourth in the NCAA Championships. He was a U.S. Olympic swim coach three times, NCAA Coach of the Year six times, and PAC-10 Coach of the Year 20 times.

Steve Fleck, PhD

Steve Fleck, PhD

Steve Fleck, PhD, is the chairman and professor of the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Wisconsin at the Eau Claire campus. He is also the current president of the National Strength and Conditioning Association that has more than 26,000 members. Steve is the former program chairman of the Athlete Training Division for the U.S. Olympic Training Center at Colorado Springs as well as the former national conditioning trainer for the West German Volleyball Federation. Steve serves on the editorial board of Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise and is the associate editor of The Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research. He has published more than 130 scientific publications on strength and conditioning.

Bob Seebohar

Bob Seebohar

Bob Seebohar has been the Director of Sports Nutrition at the University of Florida and the University of Colorado, and more recently as a sport dietitian for the US Olympic Committee. Bob was the sports dietitian to the Olympic Triathlon team in the 2008 Olympics. He is a nationally known board certified specialist in sports dietetics, and a USA Triathlon Certified Elite Level III and Youth/Junior Certified Coach. He was also the head coach of the national champion women’s soccer team from Colorado State University in 1999. He has written several books including Metabolic Efficiency Training: Teaching the Body to Burn More Fat and Performance Nutrition for Soccer Players.
